Short Film Review: The Scarlet Vultures (2018)

The Scarlet Vultures is a short horror film written and directed by Kyle Martellacci. Clocking in at just about 14 minutes, it’s about a girl named Evelyn (Anne-Carolyne Binette) who has a newfound fascination for blood and uses that fascination in an interesting way. She finds herself enjoying it a bit too much, though, and her fascination turns into a much deeper passion that she intends to take as far as she possibly can.
The production of The Scarlet Vultures is fantastic. The sound department was definitely one of the highlights of this film. There was really great atmospheric sound that complimented each scene well, and the score was great as far as music goes. Martellacci was also in charge of cinematography and has a really good eye for it. A lot of the scenes have very good lighting and camerawork. The entire film has a surreal vibe that is executed extremely well with the imagery and accompanying score and atmospheric sound.
Overall, The Scarlet Vultures is a great short film. It uses an imaginative approach with a classic horror feel and does it with style. We would definitely recommend checking this one out!
