Short Film Review: Hunger (2020)

Hunger is an independent short horror film from My Little Rascal Productions and Wide Eyed Pictures. It was written by Lisa Sorrentino and directed by Daniel Brown. It’s about a man who gets a gift delivered from his recently passed loved one, who must have ordered it before she died. Or did she?
There are a lot of quality elements packed into this short film. Despite clocking in at only about 10 minutes, the story was well-written and was able to provide enough history within that time to set up the character backgrounds and also paint a pretty good picture that is challenging and would normally take longer to build up. The pacing was exactly where it needed to be to captivate and pique your interest.
The cinematography and sound in this film were great as well. There were some really good shots in some of the scenes. The overall atmosphere was very surreal and kept you right in the pocket, and largely in part due to the score fitting in so well with the visuals. Everything combined just worked.
Overall, we would definitely recommend you check out Hunger when you get a chance. It’s an excellent example of how to make great use of time in a short film when it comes to developing a story and executing it in just a few minutes.
