Short Film Review: Nite Nite (2017)

by

Written, directed and produced by Chad Meisenheimer, Nite Nite is a short horror film that has a running time of 3:41. The film is about a babysitter (Tommie Vegas) who is putting a child (Brady Bond) to bed for the night, and the child has her check under the bed for a monster.
The film takes place in 1985. This isn’t really expanded on much, and it wasn’t very clear why it was set in that year, but the background music is definitely reminiscent of the 80’s-style keyboards you hear in horror from that era and the film has a good score.

The babysitter tucks the boy in and assures him that monsters don’t exist, and then comes back in after the boy screams and insists that he sees a monster, and despite not believing in monsters, the babysitter humors the boy and checks for him.

Overall, Nite Nite is a good horror short. It packs a lot of atmosphere into a very short amount of time, and it has a lot of classic horror feel to it. After watching this, you will definitely want to check under your bed for monsters. Or maybe they are better left alone.
