Movie Review: Horror Hotel The Movie (2016)

Horror Hotel is an anthology film and is the feature-length directorial debut from Ricky Hess. The writing credits go to Al Hess.
The first story is called “Aliens Stole My Boyfriend”. It starts off with a girl named Cindy yelling at her boyfriend Roger about how he needs to start bringing in more money. A couple of women appear who look human, but have crash-landed from space. They are getting a bit too friendly with Roger, and things start getting out of control.
The second story is called “Coma Girl”. It’s about a woman in a coma. Her man dresses her up for their anniversary and finds out that he has some competition for her heart.
The third story is called “The Problem with Clones”, which is a murder mystery story about a family and the lottery.
The fourth story is called “Brain Robbers in Love”. This is a story about a brain-swapping gone wrong.
The fifth story is called “Four Eyes”. It’s about a contract killing that doesn’t go according to plan.
The sixth story called “Life after Men” is about the world in a future in which all men are extinct.
Overall, this was a nice little anthology film. The cinematography was good. The sound was good. The stories were unique and interesting, too. While they weren’t especially-complicated, they weren’t too predictable. Another thing that was interesting was that they all take place at the same “Horror Hotel”. It would have been neat if they had could have found a way to intertwine the stories where they seamlessly transition, but the continuity was nice. The one we liked the most was “Brain Robbers in Love”. It had a really nice twist to it, and the acting really made that one great as well. If there was one thing that this film could have used, it would be more horror, though. It feels like they held back a bit in that department. We do hope to see a sequel to this, and hopefully, they pull the trigger next time on the horror aspect.
