Short Film Review: Because Reasons (2018)

Written by Isaac Thorne, adapted into a screenplay by Joseph Sorrentino, and directed by Roger Glass, Because Reasons is about a girl named Tiffany (Krista West) who wants to liven things up in the shitty rural town she is in. And she is definitely killing it in the livening up department.
Because Reasons is a film that runs about 15 minutes but packs a lot into this amount of time. Tiffany is telling her story to a guy in the trunk of a car who she had met that evening at a bar, and going through the events that lead up to where she is now. It’s a pretty grisly tale, and she has plans for her friend in the trunk as well.
For being a low-budget indie film, Because Reasons has a lot of great qualities. The cinematography and music selection was great, and the overall quality of the dialogue was clear and sounded great which is usually something that indie films (some with much bigger production resources) don’t get right but makes a huge difference in the overall quality of the film.
The acting was pretty good overall. Most of the film is focused on Tiffany, and Krista West did a fantastic job. There were also some nice practical effects peppered in for gore in some scenes, and even the lowest-budget practical effects are better than using CGI. The heart and soul of classic horror films are in the practical effects.
Overall, Because Reasons is an awesome indie horror film, and on top of all of the things mentioned previously they threw in a nice twist. We definitely recommend this to all lovers of indie horror out there.
