Movie Review: The Last Exorcist (2020)

by

The Last Exorcist is a film written and directed by Robin Bain. It stars Danny Trejo (From Dusk til Dawn, The Devil’s Rejects, Machete), Rachele Brooke Smith (Psycho Stripper, Nightmare Shark), and Terri Ivens (Piranhaconda, Untold).

The synopsis of this film says: “Two sisters are haunted by the demons of their past.”

It’s rare, but sometimes we get something sent to us that is just not good right out of the gate. This is one of those times. We stuck it out, but it didn’t improve. The movie was not paced well. The story was not interesting. The acting and / or writing was not good. The production quality was ok, but not good enough to make up for the rest of the shortcomings of the film, and even though Danny Trejo was featured in the promo material, he was only in the film for a couple of scenes.

Overall, this was one of the worst exorcism films we have seen. Normally, we would elaborate and try to focus on some positives and negatives here like church janitors, doctors using walking sticks in the hospital, a weird rapey scene that just didn’t fit the story.. etc. But aside from the brief Danny Trejo appearances being the only positive, it was not worth the time investment. We will keep it short and sweet and recommend you avoid this one.
