Movie Review: Feed Me (2022)

by

Feed Me is a horror film written and directed by and . It’s about a man at the end of his rope who gets an offer from a stranger to help him find peace in exchange for a piece…. of himself. Or many pieces.

Loosely based on a true story from 2001 in which a man named Armin Meiwes was in the news for eating a voluntary victim, the film begins with a distraught Jed Freeman (Christopher Mulvin) receiving some bad news after police find his girlfriend dead in her apartment. He meets a man named Lionel Flack (Neal Ward) who offers to help relieve all of the burdens he has on his mind by way of consensual human consumption. After a contract is signed, things get pretty messy.

For an indie production, this film has so many great things going for it. Excellent lighting, atmosphere, and tension. Awesome cinematography. The acting is good. The practical effects are outstanding. The film has a couple of scenes with comedic elements, but, for the most part, is a gory horror experience. And Feed Me is definitely an experience.

Feed Me is extremely gory in a way in which even we had to squint a couple of times, which is saying a lot. We have seen hundreds of horror movies. The gore is warranted, though, and not over the top. It’s exactly what was called for. The story itself is really interesting and written well, and is somewhat of a parody of the original real-life counterpart it is based on.

Overall, Feed Me is a fantastic indie horror film that doesn’t hold back. It’s got pretty much everything you could ask for. Great production quality all around, a good story, and some awesome gore. It has some great tension at just the right times and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. We would highly recommend Feed Me to all horror fans out there who are looking for something new to watch this Halloween.

Feed Me releases today, October 27th on digital and on demand! Check out the trailer below and be sure to watch it!
